With sausage balls, the ratio of dry ingredients to sausage and cheese is key.
My recipe calls for 1 1/2 cups flour and 1/2 pound each of cheddar and sausage.
If using Bisquick or a similar baking mix, you will use that in place of the flour, baking powder, and butter. Just whisk the spices in and then carry on with the next steps.
Add the shredded cheese and sausage to the bowl, and pour the Worcestershire evenly over everything. Mix with clean hands until the dough holds together.
Worcestershire is not in many recipes for sausage balls. It adds moisture and flavor.
NOTE: Depending on the type of sausage you use, you may not need all that is called for.
Divide dough into balls of 1/2 oz to 1 oz, about 1 to 2 Tablespoons. Roll into balls and bake at 350F for 20-25 minutes until done. Serve hot or at room temperature.
