OXO 14-Piece Glass Bake, Serve & Store Set
Not pictured, the 9×13 which I made mac and cheese in for a friend’s daughter’s birthday. It’s still at their house. And one of the medium SNAP containers because it’s in the freezer. I’ve already put everyone to good use!
I’ve had two other sets of “clicky top” glass servers/store-ware, and I find them very frustrating, because most of the time, at least one if not two of the sides that clip down under the rim won’t stay “clicked.” I don’t know what the deal is, because I certainly wouldn’t be selling a product if it didn’t work as advertised. The great thing about the OXO set is that the four clicky sides clamp down under the lips of the containers and stay clamped. And the silicone seal virtually guarantees no leaking. If the sides don’t click, the silicone can’t do its job, and leaks could happen. But with the OXO Bake, Serve & Store set, all the clicky sides click tightly, and I don’t have to worry about spills or leaks. Nice!
The set contains 3 pieces of bakeware (two with lids) and four SNAP Glass Food Storage containers with the magical clicky tops that actually click. So far, I have found nothing not to like about either type. The lids for the bakers, made for the square and 9″ x 13″ sizes click all around the very outside edge of the glass lip. This means that you don’t end up pressing any goo that might be on the edges up into the seals. Why did nobody think of this before, I ask you? Plus, you can attach them with one hand and they seal really well. They’re not made to be completely leak-proof like the SNAP lids, but they fit tightly and can certainly stop some casserole or an errant bar cookie from escaping. The handles are nice and wide, which is great for me since I don’t use oven mitts. I don’t mean I reach in and grab 375F bakeware with my bare hands! I use folded up towels, and even with the thickness of several layers of terrycloth, I can get a good grip on them to take them from the oven.
Aside from the magical clicky sides of the SNAP Containers and their leak-proof seals, they can all be stacked and nested: big buy-medium guy-medium guy-little guy, so they don’t take up too much room in your cabinet.
That guy is upside down so I can show you it’s leak-proof! It is!
I macerated my berries for the Lavender Mixed Berry Crisp in one of the SNAP containers, and I baked in the square baker. The leftovers are currently living in my fridge with the tight-fitting lid fitting tightly as it should.
I am very pleased with the set and am glad that they can go from fridge to microwave to oven and back. Even the SNAP lids are microwaveable, as long as you unsnap them first!
And now that you know all about the 14 Piece Glass Bake, Serve & Store Set, let’s make some lavender mixed berry crisp!
