UPDATE: The giveaway is now closed.
I’m pretty sure I have told you all before how much I adore Halloween. It is my hands-down favorite holiday. I enjoy the dressing up, the decorating, the candy. And the Scaring of the Children. I only scare them a little bit. Honest. Usually. This year, I thought I’d go with a Halloween Recipe Round-Up!
Halloween food always puts me in a bit of a quandary, though. Do I turn food into craft projects? Kinda cool, but not really my forté. Do I just let the food speak for itself, or is that too subtle? And do folks really want freakishly frightening food, or just food that will give them a bit of a laugh and a grin and also taste good?
Maybe the happy medium is a Wink and a Nod Tasty Food. To that end, I have found some for you. You can click the photos or the links to get to the posts. Enjoy! And after your culinary Halloween tour, please stick around for a Halloween Jewelry Giveaway from Elle of Elle’s New England Kitchen and Helle’s Bells. Yay! There’s a preview up top. See?
Halloween Recipe Round Up
Because who doesn’t love a good Halloween recipe round up?
All photos used with permission, including Elle’s.
First up, Brianne from Cupcakes & Kale Chips made these really cute Mini Chocolate Chip Cookie Cupcakes with Browned Butter Pumpkin Spice Frosting. Subtle and cute. I love them! As a bonus, they’re gluten free since the cookie dough used as the base is gluten free. Nice!
Kristina of SpaBettie makes different flavored stuffed pepper jack o’ lanterns every year. Here are her vegan Jalapeno Popper Pepper Jacks. I cannot take the cute, plus I love a customizable idea! How great are these?
Allison from Cupcake Diaries made these cute little Halloween Rice Krispie Treats. Not a lot of ingredients, and obviously Halloweeny for not a ton of work (no cutting licorice ropes into legs or anything). Fun!
Truffles! Traditional ones, too: cream, chocolate, butter. Oh, and Halloween sprinkles for rolling. So you know you can revisit these every time a holiday comes around! Thanks to Carla from Chocolate Moosey for these Halloween Truffles!
Apparently, Colcannon is a traditional Irish Halloween tradition. Creamy, rich mashed potatoes with oniony goodness and cabbage? I think I can handle that! Thanks, Faith from An Edible Mosaic for letting me in on the secret. I had no idea!
Karen from Karen’s Kitchen Stories brings us a Serious Adult Beverage in the form of a brew called Satan’s Whiskers! Apparently it was created to demonize a football coach, but it works quite nicely for a Halloween theme, don’t you think? Plus, it’s orange!
Look at these ever so cute and tasty looking wee Pumpkin Almond Cookies from Valentina at Cooking on the Weekends. Perfect for Halloween and right into Thanksgiving. Or anytime you need a little pumpkin cookie in your life!
Last but not least, Kathy from Healthy Slow Cooking has made three wonderful and vegan Spooky Sandwich Spreads. They are all bean-based and all sound delicious. If I were vegan, I’d be looking for ways to get some creamy back into my life, and I’d probably start here with Kathy’s spreads.
And that, my friends, is the round up! I do hope you’ve gotten some great ideas! Make them as written or just get inspired by them. Have fun this Halloween. I know that I will!
