What the heck is Food 52sday, anyway?
I'm just getting in the Food 52sday Recipe Inspiration post under the wire before I turn into a pumpkin. This week, it was The Beloved's turn to choose, and he's gone with Chicken with Creamy Dijon Mustard Sauce. The original recipe was submitted by Maria Teresa Jorge. She seems like a keen person: she's lived all over Europe, and at the age of 45, she decided to follow her passion and go to culinary school. So she did. She had a cooking school for a few years, and now she teaches cooking and is a personal chef in Portugal. See? Keen! I'm not seeing a blog or website for MTJ, but she does have a personal facebook page here.
This kind of dish--protein fairly simply presented but with a complementary sauce--is not something I do too often, so I am looking forward to playing with the idea of a piquant sauce that utilizes both aromatics and alcohol to play up all the flavors. Fun!
We're taking next week off from Food 52sday, so the interpretation will be up on Tuesday, July 10.
I do hope you'll cook along, but even if you don't, do tune in to see what we come up with. I am a Fan of chicken thighs, but I can also see using turkey or even pork. Heck, even rabbit or goat. I intend to have fun with this guy, and I hope you do, too.
