Sometimes I help out a bloggy friend or two by writing a guest post for them when they’re going to be away for awhile. It’s a nice thing to do to help out a friend, plus I can maybe meet some new folks, and I like to meet new people. Since my guest posts might be the first and only thing of mine that my friends’ readers have seen, I try to get across my Main Raison d’Etre sur Hinternets: techniques.
I’ve written a couple of these technique-y posts that I just realized I haven’t let you know about. Plus, you might not know my bloggy friends, and you should. Because they are lovely folks.
The first guest post I wrote a couple of weeks ago was for Terra of Café Terra. You guys should remember her because we both made moscato pound cake. I used strawberries in mine, and Terra used grapes. Fun project; two yummy cakes. It doesn’t get much better than that! For Terra, who has a Big Girl Job of being a Food Safety/Quality Assurance Auditor for hotels, restaurants and other Food Making Establishments, I wanted to keep the focus on healthy meals. Or as healthy as I can get (it’s all about the balance, you know), so I wrote about risotto. How to make a basic risotto and then how to vary it using whatever leftovers you have lying about the house. Because even leftovers have a right to be fancy, and risotto is kind of fancy.
And for Becca, the lovely blogger (and my lovely friend) behind It’s Yummilicious, I wrote about fruit crisps–how to make a basic one using whatever fruit you have Lying About. Becca lives in Wisconsin, and she might be one of the Nicest People Ever. I’m babysitting her blog This Very Day because she has to be in the hospital for a couple of days. Get well soon, Becca. And, dear readers, please spare a good thought or seven for Becca while she works on Getting Well.
And there you have it–recipe templates for a savory dish and a sweet dish. So you can have a different dinner/dessert combo every night of the week! Please check out these posts and make sure you say hi to both Terra and Becca.
Thanks you guys, and have a lovely day.
